Two Philippine Ships Can Be Deployed For Navy Excercises With China
Chairman of the Deputy Director of the Philippine Navy (PN) Robert Empathy said that the service command was one of two Bacolod City class logistical support, from October 22 to 29 2018.
In an interview, Empedrad said the BRP Bacolod City (LC-550) or its sister-ship, BRP Dagupan City (LC-551), could be deployed in naval exercises to participate not only by the Philippines but also the Association of Southeast Asia Member States ( ASEAN) and the People’s Republic of China.
“A cargo ship is available for sale. 550 ata o 551 (One of our available cargo ships will be sent 550 or 551),” said Empedrad.
Empedrad said he was invited to accompany the exercise.
He said part of the exercise could handle maneuvers, interoperability training, and HADR or Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations.
Earlier, National Defense Department (DND) Public Affairs Head Arsenio Andolong said the holding of ASEAN and China joint exercises took place after the ASEAN Defense Ministers Retreat Meeting in Singapore on February 5 to 06 2018.
